Are there side effects to the colon cleanse products I’m reading about?

I’ve been reading about these over the counter colon cleanse powders and pills that are supposed to make you feel healthier, but I’m worried about side effects, like having to use the bathroom constantly. Has anyone out there tried products like Bromalite or Cleanse RX?

Colonic irrigation (colon cleansing) went out with high button shoes and I can’t imagine why anyone thinks it is a good thing to do.
There are dangers such as mechanical injury, introduction of pathogens, and loss of electrolytes.
To feel and be healthy, eat well balanced meals containing adequate fiber, exercise, get adequate sleep, avoid ingesting and inhaling toxic substances.
