tess489 asked: My husband is in another flare of his colitis the only thing we can think that he has changed is taking calcium supplements upon the doctors request. This is the second time he has tried this and the second time that it has flared. Despite attempts to find out from the doctor and the specialist as well as the pharmacist we are being told this could not be the cause. Has any one else had this problem or reaction to taking calcium?

twinkles asked: Many different doctors have told me over the past 8 years that I have a spastic colon. There are ulcers in stomach as well. I have had so many tests done, I go to the gym every day and eat a balanced, special diet but I’m still bloated every day and wake up every morning with a stomach ache. I do stress allot but go to yoga classes. This problem is almost poisoning my system and I get burning pains in my muscles. I’m desperate! Does anyone know if something else could cause such symptoms? Maybe I’m trying to fix a related condition and not the real problem!

twinkles asked: I have had a spastic colon for more than 8 years. I know what to eat and what not to even touch. My situation was controlled for some time but two months ago I woke up with a burning pain in and around my shoulder - almost inside my cartilage. I took blood tests for rheumatoid arthritis and the amount of acids in my system. Both were higher than normal but not really a danger. I am taking anti-inflammatory tablets but the pains have spread to my muscles. I am eating a balanced diet suggested by a dietician. I also exercise 5 days a week for an hour at a time but I am still gaining weight. I gained almost 15kg in 9 months. I am always bloated and suffer of heavy constipation, dizziness and fatigue. What is going on with me? Who should I see next? I have been to so many doctors and they keep on telling me it is my spastic colon! Could it be my thyroid? Please, any advice.

Bob R. Streisand asked: that actually WORKS? All the usual remedies (electrolytes, fibre, prescription and over the counter medicines, bland diet) don’t work and doctors don’t seem to be able to cure it either. Thanks in advance.

Alien asked: Ulcerative colitis can be a maddening illness to deal with. We may be concerned in an UC support cluster. From time to time it is obliging now to be familiar with so as to we are not on our own as well as there are further individuals who are bothered. For UC victims, talk about indicators, investigations and handling decisions might cause discomfiture, though an UC support collection is prepared for people who have the similar or comparable knowledge.
Constant illness may show the way to depression in addition to nervousness. Several doctors who think about ulcerative colitis patients counsel psychotherapy along with UC support group. If our general practitioner or our family associate’s doctor does not have information regarding support, we may get it on the net. Various people oppose the thought of counseling or UC support group, although both may be extremely helpful. Even now discussing with others who are concern for UC patients might be helpful. Moreover, if we have had the illness for some time, we might be able to present insight to persons who are recently detected. The following are at present a few of the various programs we might find attractive and cooperative.
The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a non-profit association so as to provide learning concerning care meant for UC, finance investigating studies, clutch an UC support group for patients and their families and sponsors activities for members. The CCFA currently has over 50,000 members and 40 chapters nationwide. At their website, you can learn more about the disease and connect with a local ulcerative colitis support assembly or else find out regarding existing investigation, decisions used for medication as well as concern for UC.
There is the Crohns illness and UC Support Group Australia, which recommends affiliates a meeting on behalf of on-line conversation, playoffs, recipes, information regarding care for UC and a support site meant for persons who have had surgical treatment or will require surgical treatment.
The majority of healthcare experts think with the aim that support groups are essential for any person who undergoes as of several chronic sicknesses, in addition to their family associates. Discovering a UC support group might reduce the probability with the intention of becoming miserable and might reduce nervousness. Seychelles Scops-owl asked: I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis last year. I want to know if anyone has suggestions or advice for dealing with relapses.
Doctors often say that diet has little to do with the disease and does not affect remission and relapse, but I find this hard to believe.
Any suggestions are welcome.
